It’s a BOY!

We’re taking a break from the DIY projects to share some exciting personal (baby) news… it’s a boy!

It's A BOY

Please excuse us while we take a brief break from the DIY home projects (trust me when I say there are TONS of new projects in the works that we will be sharing over the next few weeks) to share a bit of exciting personal news we learned on our day off yesterday. We are half way to meeting our little Gray House Studio intern and yesterday we learned…

It’s A BOY!!!!

It's A BOY

I had somehow convinced myself we were having a girl, for no real reason really other than that was the feeling I got. Well, my feeling was completely wrong, haha, so I was a little surprised at this news but not disappointed in the slightest. Brent and I were both so incredibly happy and excited to see our healthy baby boy yesterday.

After our appointment I decided I wanted to create a mini photoshoot in the park down the street from our house with large balloons revealing the gender. So we headed to the party store and ordered 5 24″ balloons and 5 12″ balloons. As we were checking out I glanced over to the balloon counter where the lady was blowing up the 24″ balloon and I said, “Um…Brent, those are some really big balloons. Are we going to be able to fit them in our car?” The employees were also skeptical.

It's A BOY

It turns out no. No we could not fit all 10 of those balloons in our car. We could barely fit three in at one time and that was with one on my lap! We severely underestimated how large 24″ balloons filled with helium are and totally didn’t think that plan through but it made for some hilarious memories on an already special day.

Those big boys had so much helium in them I think if I was holding any more than 5 I might have floated away like the house in Up. Luckily, it was just a short drive home and then Brent ran back and got our remaining balloons.

Brent set all the balloons up at the park and when I walked down to see the set up it looked so magical, just how I had envisioned. Then we busted out the good old tripod and camera timer and snapped a few photos to document the exciting news we learned that day.

I think it is safe to say Brent is pretty excited about the news.

After we were done with the photos, Brent fulfilled his Mario Kart fantasy by attaching three of the large balloons to the back of his car and driving back down the street with his windows down blasting the star power song.

I know we don’t share many personal posts here on the blog but we thought it would be fun to share our big and exciting news with all of you because you have been so supportive and encouraging and we love connecting with you! Now that we know it’s a boy, we can start planning the nursery accordingly and we are pumped for the fun projects and design we have in store for the nursery. We’ll be sharing our plans soon.

Plus, we have our new home office finished and have a few more projects left to show you in there before we do our big room reveal and tour! Not to mention our back patio makeover is also underway so there will be lots of DIY projects and a reveal for that space coming up soon as well. Whew! See, lots of DIY projects coming your way very soon so stay tuned!

  1. What a cute way to announce the gender! So funny. I have a feeling that Dan would have the exact same reaction and would want to be a mini Mario driving away 🙂

    Congratulations you two!
